To Start …

Why classics? Why study ancient Latin and Greek—two languages that can no longer be used for communication in the modern world? Amid the pressing global challenges marked by climate change, ethical complications with artificial intelligence, and ongoing conflicts, why should we bother to know what happened in the 4th century BC?

What is the place for the past in the present? What is the place for classical antiquity in the modern world?

These are my questions, and as someone nerdy and passionate about the Greco-Roman world, I have been both haunted and excited by them. I believe they should not be merely answered but constantly pondered, revisited, and modified. As such, this blog page serves to record my exploration and rendering in all aspects of the ancient world: linguistically, culturally, and historically. It intends to trace what I do and how I think, and it is my privilege to share all these ramblings with a broader audience.
